Discovery Days : Castleton Lights
05 December 2009
Saturday 5th December 2009
Our final discovery day of the season take us into the Peak National Park for an enthralling day out at this festive time of year
The village of Hathersage provides a picturesque venue for our morning coffee stop, following which we make the short journey by coach to Hope. An easy walk across the fields takes us to Castleton where we have our picnic lunch. Situated at the junction of the White Peak and Dark Peak, Castleton has much to offer the visitor including the famous Peak Cavern and plenty of small, specialist shops full of seasonal gifts for you to browse during the afternnon.
More energetic members of our party may join the afternoon guided walk ascending Cave Dale and returning to the village by the Winnats Pass. As dusk falls, Castleton’s Christmas Lights are switched on to create an intimate spectacle of light and colour.
A magical day!
