Walking Breaks : Lyke Wake Walk
07 November 2009 - 08 November 2009 (1 nights)
The Lyke Wake walk provides challenging walking across the North York Moors National Park.
Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th November 2009 (1 night)
First walked by Bill Cowley in 1955, this classic walk in the North York Moors National Park takes the walker 42 miles across England’s largest expanse of heather moor from Osmotherley to Ravenscar. We plan to walk the first half of the walk from Ravenscar to the Millennium Stone over two days with the aid of minibus support and an overnight stay in a quality hotel!
From the mast at Ravenscar we cross Howdale Moor to Jugger Howe before climbing over Fylingdales Moor via Lilla Cross to Ellerbeck Bridge. Refreshed after an overnight stay we return to Ellerbeck Bridge to continue over Wheeldale Moor to Wheeldale Lodge and Hamer to reach the Millennium Stone.
This is a challenging but very satisfying walk, which should not be missed on any account!
